151 RU teachers demand release of Khaleda
A total of 151teachers of Rajshahi University (RU) on Thursday demanded of the caretaker government for immediate and unconditional release of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for the sake of democracy.
In a statement, the teachers said that without her release neither the dialogue nor the election will be acceptable to people of Bangladesh.
'It is important to release Begum Zia and withdraw all of her cases to make successful the ongoing dialogue and ensure political stability in the country, ', the statement said.
The teachers also urged the caretaker government to send her two sons Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko abroad for better treatment.
Signatories to the statement are former vice chancellor Prof Dr Faisul Islam Faruqui, former vice chancellor of Khulna University Prof Dr Abdul Kader Bhuiyan, former vice chancellor of Islami University Prof Rafikul Islam, RU Zia Parishad president Prof Dr Abdul Hamid, Prof Dr Abdus Salam, Prof Nazrul Islam, Prof Dr Azhar Ali, Dr Hasanat Ali and Dr MA Hasan.
