CNG-run microbus drivers in Pabna have demanded immediate setting up of new CNG stations in the district headquarter to ease pressure on the lone CNG refuelling station at Pakshi in Ishwardi upazila under the district. Over three to four thousand CNG-run vehicles from Pabna, Natore, Rajshahi and Kushtia districts refuel gas from Pakshi CNG station and the drivers have to wait in long queues everyday, leaders of CNG-run Micro Drivers' Association, Pabna said at a press conference at Pabna Press Club auditorium yesterday morning. Vice president of Micro driver association, Pabna Md. Abul Kalam chaired the press conference while secretary of the organization Md. Motiur Rahman, Md. Dablu, Md. Shimul, Md. Eheteshum Rani addressed among others of the organization in the press conference. “Even after receiving authorities' permission for setting up four new CNG stations in the district, the owners of the concerned stations did not establish new stations due to the low pressure of the gas, sources said. “The gas company has ensured 350 cubic metre pressure for gas supply in the CNG station while at least 650 cubic metre pressure would be needed for operating the CNG station,” said Md Faruk Ali Sheikh, owner of Faruk Filling Station that along with Citizen Filling station, RR Filing station and Yakub filling station got permission to establish new CNG stations in the district. Officials, on the other hand, said gas pressure cannot be increased until setting new gas pipeline. “If the permission recipient stations do not set the station in the due time we will think about five to six other applicants,” Shailoja Nanda Boshak, deputy manager of Western Gas Co Ltd., Pabna said over phone yesterday.
