Fire at Zia fertiliser suspends production
Production at Ashuganj Zia Fertilizer Company Ltd (ZFCL) has remained suspended following a lockage and fire in the ammonia plant of the factory on Friday.
A fire due to leakage and overheating in the ammonia plant of the factory engulfed the Syntesis line of the air compressor of the plant, ZFCL sources said.
Fire fighters of the factory rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after 30 minutes.
The fire could not damage any parts large ZFCL source said.
Factory engineers are working round the clock to resume functioning of the factory, ZFCL managing director Md Osman Guni said, adding that it will take five days to resume production.
The incident is causing the factory a production loss of at least 1400 tonnes of urea a day.
