Workers of three Khulna jute mills observe strike from today
Workers of three state-owned jute mills have decided to go for agitation to press home their various demands.
Casual workers of Crescent Jute Mills will go for work stoppage for an indefinite period from today demanding increase in daily wages and 'badlicard' (permission to work as substitute).
They observed work stoppage for two hours yesterday morning and later submitted a memorandum to the general manager of the mills, Abu Taher, giving him an ultimatum to meet their demands by 6 pm today.
Alim Jute Mills workers staged a demonstration in front of the office of the project director of the mills, Monowar Hossain yesterday morning to lodge their protest against any government move to privatise the mills.
