Pregnant woman killed by husband in Sirajganj
A young pregnant woman was killed by her husband for her father's failure to pay him part of dowry money he promised during his daughter's marriage, family sources said.
Yasmin Khatun Boby, 20, daughter of Monirul Islam of SS Road in Sirajganj town was beaten to death by her husband Rubel Talukder, 28, son of Abul Hossain of Chandaikona bazaar area in Raiganj at their house Tuesday night.
Rubel married to Boby about two years three months ago. During their marriage, Boby's father promised to pay Rubel Tk 50,000 as dowry. A few days later, Rubel got Tk 30,000 as part of the dowry from Boby's poor father.
A few days later, Boby's husband and in-laws created pressure on her to bring the rest amount of Tk 20,000 from her father. As her father failed to pay the rest amount, Rubel and his family started torturing her.
On the fateful night, Rubel beat his wife to death and fled the scene leaving the body in his bedroom.
On information, Raiganj police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. They arrested Boby's father-in-law Abul Hossain and mother-in-law Asia Khatun. On interrogation, both of them admitted that Boby had been killed by their son.
