11 people held with 8,099 fake dollars, 2 Rab men hurt in Dinajpur
Rapid action Battalion arrested 11 forged dollar traders in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur and recovered fake dollar notes amounting to US$8,099 from the gang on Sunday night.
Two Rab men were injured during the hour-long raid, police said.
The arrestees -- Anisur Rahman 55, village Shatoil under Birganj upazila of Dinajpur, Md Monsur Ali, 40, of village Polashbari under Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha, Gua Thakur, 30, Md Harun-Ur Rashid, 22, Rezaur Rahman, Harun-ur-Rashid Rana, 25, Imran Ali, 20, Md Masud Rana, 22, Muhammad Mamun of Thakurgaon Sadar upazila and Mahbub Ali Sumon, 26, of Birganj upazila of Dinajpur -- were sent to jail after filing two separate cases, Birganj police said.
Acting on a tip, a Rab team laid seize to the house of Anisur Rahman at Shalban Shatoil village under Birganj upazila on Sunday night when the fake dollar traders were holding a meeting, police said.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the criminals tried to flee by hitting the law enforcers with sharp weapons but the Rab men held them with fake 8,099 US dollar notes after a chase for an hour, they added.
ASI Ibrahim Hossain and Nasim, who were seriously injured during the incident, are undergoing treatment at DMCH, Rab said.
