Freedom fighter appeals to save life, property
An injured freedom fighter of the liberation war of Bangladesh has urged the authorities concerned to save his life and property from the clutch of a criminal.
Freedom fighter Md Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan of Jigatola village in Dhubaura upazila made the appeal at a press conference held at Mymensingh Press Club yesterday. His father Mafiz Uddin Bhuiyan was also a martyred freedom fighter.
Bhuiyan alleged that a criminal named Joynal of Bhuiyan Para village had demanded illegal toll from him during Aman harvesting season last year. For failure, Joynal threatened to prevent him from harvesting paddy on 2.13 acres of land adjacent to his house, Bhuiyan said he brought the matter to local administration and local elite but in vain. He said that Joynal had become more furious and constructed a house on his land on March 14 this year. The criminal allegedly snatched away paddy from the share-croppers of Bhuiyan.
Now he has been staying at a hotel in Mymensingh town in fear of the criminal, Bhuiyan said.
