RU observes 55th founding day today

Rajshahi University (RU) celebrates its 55th founding anniversary today though day-long colourful programmes. The RU authorities have chalked out various colorful programme to celebrate the day at university campus. The programme will beginn with hoisting of the National Flag and the university flag at 6:00am at administrative building, VC's residence, central library and students dormitories. A colourful procession of teachers, students and university staff will be brought out from in front of Senate building. Later, teachers, students and different political and cultural organisation will place floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar and the RU mass grave. A march-past by the BNCC and Rover Scout will be held at Sabas Bangaldesh ground where RU acting vice chancellor Prof Mamnunul Keramat will take salute. The university authorities formed a committee to make the programme a success. The programmes also include tree plantation, friendly cricket and handball matches between teachers and students, discussion meeting at the TSC and a cultural programme at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium. Special prayers will also be offered at the university central mosque after Zohar prayer. Different cultural organisations and theater groups will hold cultural show and street drama today and on Monday at the central Shaheed Minar and Folklore department premises. Rajshahi University was set up in 1953.
