Jamaat secretary Mujahid tells Mymensingh party meet
Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Ali Ahsan Mohammed Mujahid yesterday said the government is playing a 'ridiculous game' with the people by holding the Esho Bangladesh Gori road show while they are hard pressed under 'unexpected price hike of necessities'.
The road show programme is ridiculous because price of rice and other essentials are soaring every day leaving many people half-fed or unfed, he said at a conference of Mymensingh Jamaat leaders, held at a city hotel.
The country is plunged into deep crisis and it is being tried to rein the advancement of Jamaat, he also told the meeting.
Jamaat assistant secretary general Mohammed Kamruzzaman, district unit secretary Asaduzzaman Sohel, assistant secretary Md. Abdul Karim also addressed the meeting chaired by district Ameer Prof. Jasim Uddin. Around 200 representatives from different areas of the district attended the meeting.
Mujahid alleged that arrest of Jamaat Ameer Maulana Motiur Rahman Nizami proved government's 'ill motive' and its policy to maintain 'balance'.
Kamruzzaman alleged that the government is working to serve the purposes of vested quarters who 'want to make Bangladesh a new Afghanistan to stop the democratic process.
People's sufferings are mounting but the government is unconcerned, he alleged.
Terming Awami League's (AL) decision to participate in local body polls a 'palace intrigue', Kamruzzaman said the country needs national election first to overcome the present crisis. People will give a befitting reply to this 'liaison' thorough ballot, he said.
