20 MT fertiliser seized in Kurigram
Joint forces seized 20 metric tonnes (MT) of fertiliser from near the eastern gate of Teesta Bridge Sunday night.
They also arrested both the driver and helper of the truck which was carrying the fertiliser.
The truck carrying 200 sacks of fertiliser was heading towards Sayedpur upazila in Nilphamari district from Nageswari upazila.
On information, Kurigram Agriculture Extension Department deputy director Md Mohashin Ali rushed to the spot to examine the fertiliser. They found that the fertiliser does not belong to Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation.
Nageswari upazila nirbahi officer Ahmed Kabir said he received complaints of fertiliser smuggling to India.
Later, the arrestees were handed over to Lalmonirhat police.
