Tk 2cr drugs seized in Dinajpur, Joypurhat in 2 days
Law enforcers including BDR, police and RAB recovered huge quantities drugs including cocaine and hemp worth Tk 2 crore from different places of Dinajpur and Joypurhat districts in two days.
Bangladesh Rifles yesterday recovered about 1 kg cocaine worth Tk 1 crore from an intercity train in Phulbari. Earlier on Monday, they recovered 500gram cocaine from the same train.
Rapid Action Battalion of Joypurhat on Monday recovered various drugs including 270 bottles of phensidyl and eight kg hemp from different places in the district.
Drug traffickers have been using these bordering districts as safe drug trafficking routes for cocaine, brown sugar, smack and other narcotics, sources of law enforcement agencies said.
BDR, Rab and police recovered around 11,000 bottles of phensidyl from different places in Dinajpur and Joypurhat districts in recent months.
Police and BDR have recently initiated an extensive campaign in the bordering districts to net drug smugglers and peddlers who are now targeting students of universities, colleges, even schools for making them drug addict.
Earlier on Saturday night, a BDR team seized 600gm heroin worth about Tk 77 lakh and Tk 17 lakh Indian goods from a Parbatipur-bound intercity train.
