Jamaat's growing clout

The BNP has lost a lot of ground due to its divided leadership. On the other hand, the Jamaat is gaining more and more political strength by virtue of their so-called "less corrupt" image and committed grassroots workers. It seems to me that the Jamaat might assume a leading role in the 4-party alliance, unless Khaleda Zia regains her position fully in the party with a new image and new policy. The Jamaat, although a religion based party, continues to enjoy important support of the international community fighting terrorism plus the Muslim world which favours politics of religion. The Jamaat is moving into prime focus of our national politics, thanks to those who have blessed and patronized the Jamaat since its birth. It is unfortunate to watch a socially and culturally misfit political party getting an important position in our tolerant society.
