ACR of govt officials
From the daily national news, we came to know that the annual confidential report (ACR) of government officials at upazila level will be written by the upazila chairman, after the local government election. No doubt it is a good decision. All govt officials will be liable to public scrutiny. The government is trying to develop our local government institutions, which is a crying need for the development of Bangladesh at the grassroots level. Although some opponents, especially the bureaucrats, will be disheartened but for the country's welfare such moves are necessary.
Therefore, the upazila chairman should be a qualified person with a clear understanding of administrative matters.
