CPB polls runner admits being accused in murder case
Mayoral candidate Firoze Ahmed of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) admitted that he was named a charge-sheeted accused in Shibir leader Aminul Islam Biman murder case.
The case is yet to be disposed of as a higher court strayed the trial, he said at a press conference held at Khulna Press Club yesterday.
Chhatra Shibir leader Aminul Islam Biman was killed in attack made by some people from a procession of Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee on March 25, 1992.
Firoze Ahmed said he would form an independent 'watch committee' if elected mayor. The main aim of the watch committee will be to monitor whether the city corporation provides its services properly to citizens, he said.
It should be the first and foremost duty of a mayor to free the city corporation from corruption and make best use the funds with honesty and austerity for development of the city, he said.
“I would like to request voters not to cast votes in favour of any candidate having criminal record” he said presenting an 11-point programme for the city.
