Barisal mayoral candidate assaults rival activist
Barisal City Corporation mayoral candidate advocate Kabir Uddin Hannu allegedly assaulted a Jubo League activist yesterday evening when the latter was campaigning in favour of Shawkat Hossain Hiron, mayoral candidate nominated by 14-party alliance.
As Rezvi handed over a leaflet supporting Hiron's candidature, Kabir, also a former leader of the Jatiya Party, slapped him, sources said.
Locals kept Kabir confined after the incident. Later 14-party leaders intervened to pacify the situation.
Kabir, however, denied the allegation of assaulting Rezvi.
