'Ban Jamaat's fake FFs body'

Freedom fighters, joined by different organisations, continued protests in districts against assault of a freedom fighter by Jamaat-Shibir in the capital on June 11, demanding punishment of the culprits and trial of war criminals. They also demanded ban on Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad, a body of fake freedom fighters floated by Jamaat. In Brahmanbaria, Mukti Judha Dabi Bastabaion Parishad and thirty three renowned freedom fighters of the district in a joint statement demanded a ban on Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad, punishment of its activists who assaulted Freedom Fighter Sheikh Mohammad Ali Aman and punishment of war criminals. They said Jamaat floated the fake FFs body only to mislead genuine freedom fighters and the people, our Brahmanbaria Correspondent reports. Demanding immediate ban on the so-called Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad, they said war criminals formed the organisation with fake freedom fighters only to divert the nation's attention from the demand for trial of war criminals. They also urged the government to make a law so that anti-liberation forces can not make such fake organizations in the name of freedom fighters in future. They declared a day long programme including holding of rallies and forming human chains in the town on July 23 to press the demands. In Nilphamari, the district unit of Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee formed a human chain and held a meeting in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office protesting the assault of a freedom fighter by Jamaat-Shibir cadres, our correspondent reports. Speakers at the meeting said anti liberation forces have raised their heads again as the war criminals were not tried. They formed the so- called Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad with fake freedom fighters to gain politically by befooling the people. People are united on the demand for punishment of the war criminals. They demanded arrest of JamaatShibir acdres who assaulted freedom fighter Sheikh Mohammad Ali Aman . They citicised the government for not arresting the culprits, if it fails to take any action, people will build a greater movement and compel it to punish the culprits. The government should realise that trial of war criminals is now a demand of the nation and will face people's wrath for discharging the right duty at the right time, they said. The speakers also called upon all progressive forces to unite to launch a greater movement for trial of war criminals. They also blamed BNP for politically rehabilitating anti-liberation forces in the country. Our RU Correspondent reports: Samajtrantrik Chhatra Front (SCF) at Rajshahi University yesterday brought out a procession on the campus demanding the trial of war criminals. SCF leaders and activists, joined by cultural activists and other students, took part in the demonstration, demanding punishment of Jamaat-Shibir cadres who assaulted freedom fighter Sheikh Muhammad Aman Ali at the capital on July 11. The processionists paraded the campus chanting various slogans against Jamaat-Shibir. At a rally held in front of central Lithe Central Library, speakers demanded immediate trial of war criminals by constituting a special tribunal and ban on Jamaat-backed so-called freedom fighters organisation. They also urged political parties and student organisations to socially boycott Jamaat and Shibir and unite to fight anti-liberation forces. Earlier on the day, Anushilon Drama Group (ADG) at RU protesting the assault on a freedom fighter, demanded ban on Jatiya Muktijodha Parishad and trial of war criminals.
