Freedom fighters in Satkhira district yesterday organised two separate programmes in Sadar upazila and Shyamnagar upazila demanding punishment of Jamaat-Shibir cadres who assaulted freedom fighter Sheikh Mohammad Ali Aman, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
They formed a human chain in front of Satkhira Muktijoddha Sangsad office in the town demanding punishment of the attackers on the freedom fighter.
Among others, Kazi Riaz, Biswajit Sadhu, Abdur Rashid, Enamul Haque addressed the programme organised by Sadar upazila unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad.
Freedom fighters at a separate meeting in Shyamnagar upazila yesterday called for boycotting Jamaat-e-Islami, the party that was involved in war crimes during the Liberation War.
Shyamnagar upazila unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad organised the meeting on the premises of its office to protest the assault of freedom fighter Sheikh Mohammad Ali Aman.
Anti-liberation forces are attacking the freedom fighters to divert people's attention from the demand for trial of war criminals, speakers said at the meeting.
They also demanded immediate ban on so-called Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad backed by anti-liberation force Jamaat.
Among others, Abdul Majid, Abu Bakar Siddique, Habibur Rahman, Dr Mujibar Rahman, Khabir Ahmmad addressed the meeting presided over by SM Mujibar Rahman.

Central leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at a view exchange meeting with journalists yesterday demanded punishment of Jamaat-Shibir cadres who assaulted freedom fighter Sheikh Muhammad Aman Ali in Dhaka on July 11.
They also demanded immediate trial of war criminals by constituting a special tribunal and ban on Jamaat-Shibir politics in educational institutions.
Rajshahi University unit of BCL held the view exchange meeting with central BCL leaders and RU working journalists at university central cafeteria where they discussed the ongoing countrywide movement by central BCL.
They demanded ban on Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad, a so-called freedom fighters' organisation backed by Jamaat and trial of war criminals belonging to the party.
Urging the government for action against the culprits within July 26, BCL leaders said otherwise general students will launch a tougher agitation.
Announcing a seven-point demand, BCL central leaders urged BCL leaders and activists to get ready for launching a fresh movement for realising the demands.
