Wife of Satkhira Aug 17 blast witness commits suicide

Hajra Bibi, 35, wife of Rawshan Ali, the lone eyewitness to the five serial bomb blasts on August 17, 2005 in the town, committed suicide by hanging herself, doctors who did the autopsy told this correspondent yesterday. The victim's husband Rawshan Ali earlier claimed that his wife was abducted and killed by those who attacked him on August 25 in 2005. After killing, her body was hung from a tree, he claimed. On information, police, on the night of July, 24, recovered the body, hung from a tree at Bakal area in Satkhira Sadar upazila. It was sent to Satkhira Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Doctors who did autopsy of the body told this correspondent that the 'death is suicidal in nature'. On August 17, 2005, Rawshan Ali went to pick pocket on the premises of Women and Children Repression Preventive court in the town in the morning. He saw his neighbor Nasir Uddin Dafadar standing there with a bag in his hand. Five-minute after the bag was kept, some bombs inside went off on the court premises. Acting on information given by Rawshan, police arrested JMB operative Nasir Uddin Dafadar and some other activists.
