Yaba, phensidyl recovered: 4 held in Barisal
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab), in three separate raids conducted here yesterday, recovered 1,009 bottles of phensidyl, 35 pieces of Yaba, three vehicles, gold ornaments, one pistol and eight bullets.
Rab also arrested four people in this connection.
In a raid conducted at the house of Abdul Khalek at Baksir Char village in Babuganj upazila, Rab arrested an absconding murderer named Haji Md Gofran Khan, 48, also a businessman of Dhaka.
Rab recovered 35 pieces of Yaba tablets, one unregistered brand-new Toyota jeep, gold ornaments, a German pistol, eight bullets, eight packets of hemp, specially-made cigarettes and Tk 1,50,110 in cash collected from Yaba peddling.
On interrogation, Haji Gofran confessed to his involvement in Yaba peddling.
In another drive conducted at a hotel here, Rab arrested Md Milon, 24, of Kashipur in Jhikargachha, Jessore.
Following his confession, Rab recovered 270 bottles of phensidyl from a car.
In the third raid conducted at Banga Badhu Hospital area on Barisal-Dhaka highway at Joyosri in Uzirpur upazila, Rab arrested Mazharul Islam Nipu, 31, of Char Gadhatali in Gournadi upazila and Rokanuzaman Jony, 22, of Kannayadaha in Sharsha upazila in Jessore district.
