Try war criminals, ban fake FFs' body

Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad, Thakurgaon unit command formed a human chain and held a meeting at the town protesting Jamaat-Shibir men's assault of freedom fighter Sheikh Mohammad Ali Aman in the capital on July 11. The freedom fighters also demanded immediate ban on so-called Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad, a fake freedom fighters body formed by Jamaat-e-Islami, and trial of war criminals. Criticising the government for not arresting the culprits, they said the freedom fighters with common people will build a greater movement to ensure punishment of the culprits. In other countries, there are many examples of trial of war criminals by special tribunal after several years, they said. The speakers called upon all pro-liberation forces to unite to launch a greater movement for trial of war criminals. Freedom fighters have been ignored and the governments have failed to ensure their dignity and security, the speakers said, adding that a conspiracy is on to omit the quota for freedom fighters' children. Among others, district unit convener Jitendranath Roy, former commander Nur Karim, District Lawyers Association President advocate Touhidul Islam, freedom fighter Abdur Rashid, Thakurgaon Press Club President Abu Torab Manik and Thakurgaon Press Club General Secretary and freedom fighter Akhter Hossain Raza, addressed the rally. After participating in a silent procession from Thakurgaon Chourasta to Thakurgaon Press Club, the freedom fighters attended a press briefing at Press Club Auditorium.
