Woman killed, 15 hurt as 2 trawlers collide
A woman was killed and 15 others were injured as two trawlers collided on the Buragourango river in Galachipa upazila Saturday night.
The dead was identified as Joytun Begum, 35, wife of Nasu Gazi of Naluabaghi village in Galachipa upazila.
Of injured, two were admitted to Galachipa Upazila Health Complex. They are Reaz Uddin, 13, and Nurjahan, 16, of Golkhali village in the upazila.
The accident occurred when a Galachipa-bound fishing trawler coming from the Bay collided with a Naluabaghi-bound passenger trawler coming from Galchipa at about 8.30 pm, said sources in the upazila administration and local people.
Locals recovered the trawlers and a fire brigade team coming from Patuakhali is doing a search operation.
Five unidentified passengers are still missing, locals claimed.
