Voters decline by 14.20pc in Tangail
About 14.20 percent voters declined in 12 upazilas in the district in comparison with the previous voter list prepared in 2006, sources in the Election Commission (EC) said.
As many as 3,39,263 voters declined in this year's new list in comparison with the previous one.
Meanwhile, 59 people were sued in six upazilas for enlisting names in voter list twice.
A total of 25,70,288 voters were enlisted in 12 upazilas in the district in the previous voter list, EC sources said. The number of voters came down to 22,31,324 in the new list, they said.
The highest 23.28 percent voters declined in Nagarpur upazila and the lowest 6.64 percent of voters declined in Modhupur upazila. official sources said.
Previously, the number of voters was 2,20,623 in Nagarpur, which came down to 1,84,033 this year. Earlier, the number of voter was 1,87,830 in Modhupur which came down to 1,75, 352 this year.
