18 students freed on bail
A Noakhali court yesterday granted bail to 18 students of Begumganj Agriculture Training Institute, who were arrested on charge of damaging vehicles and putting up barricade on road on July 24.
All the 18 students were freed from Noakhali jail as Judge Nishatuzzaman of Begumganj cognisance court passed the order.
Following a rumour that a student of the institute was killed in an accident on Choumohani-Maijdi road, students took to the street and clash between students and police left at least 50 people including UNO, police and students and teachers of injured.
Students also damaged at least 25 vehicles on the road and Begumganj police arrested 25 students. After primary interrogation police freed seven students from the police station on the same day while the court sent the others to jail.
