Fertiliser Scam In Pabna
2 agri officials, dealer sued
Five people including two agriculture officials and a fertilizer dealer have been sued for cheating farmers in weight of fertiliser and taking extra prices.
Pabna Sadar Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Sohel Md Samsuddin Firoz filed the case with Pabna Police Station on Wednesday night.
The accused are Md Saifur Rahman Osman and Ahmed Ali, sub-assistant officers of Agriculture Extension Department, fertiliser dealer Md Abdul Goni, his assistant Md Shakil Ahmed, and Md Hannan, a labourer working at the dealer's shop.
Earlier on Wednesday, Rapid Action Battalion and police arrested Osman, Ahmed Ali, Shakil and Hannan during their operation in the fertiliser godown at village Jalapur in Pabna Sadar upazila.
They also sealed the godown after seizing 167 sacks of fertilizer as each bag contained eight to nine kg fertiliser less than the amount mentioned. The arrested persons were sent to jail through the court, police said.
