One held for 'false' propaganda
Police arrested photostat shop owner Nurul Alam Khan from Sagordi A Wahad School area in the city yesterday after BCC mayoral candidate Sarfuddin Santu lodged a general dairy with Kotwali police against him for distributing leaflets containing false and distorted information about him.
Nurul Alam was arrested under Section 54 of penal code and sent to jail, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police Hayatul Islam said.
In another incident police recovered colored photocopies of news clippings of a Bangla daily (Amardesh) which said BNP secretary general Khandokar Delwar extended his support to expelled Barisal city BNP president Ahsan Habib Kamal in the mayoral race.
