Five 'child traffickers' held in two dists in seven days
Five suspected child traffickers were arrested in Patuakhali and Barguna districts in seven days.
Joygun, 32, of Golakhali village in Amtali upazila in Baruna was arrested from Hetalia village in Sadar upazila for her alleged bid to kidnap a 4-year-old girl named Nusrat, daughter of Nayan Sikder,
Joygun allegedly entered Sikder's house to come closer with the inmates. At one stage, she left the house with Nusrat. As she put lotion to her eyes, the baby started crying. Then locals caught her and handed over her to police.
Sadar police, in collaboration with locals, arrested Laila Akhter Mala, 13, and recovered a 10-month-old baby named Jannatul Naim Tinni from Taltola slum in Patuakhali town on Thursday. Mala allegedly stole the baby on Tuesday from a residence at Hatirpool in Dhaka where she worked as a domestic help.
On information, Sadar police rescued the baby and arrested Mala. She was handed over to Ramna police in Dhaka.
Kalapara police arrested Reshma Akter, 27, for her alleged involvement in child smuggling at Nishanbaria village in Kalapara upazila on July 25. Locals caught her and handed over her to police. According to her confession, police arrested her husband Sagor, 40, on July 26.
