Teachers wear black badge, give Aug 12 deadline for action
Wearing black badges, members of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Teachers Council yesterday brought out a silent procession on the campus protesting assault on house tutor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Assistant Professor Md. Wakilur Rahman allegedly by some Chhatra League activists Monday night.

Leaders of the association also threatened of tougher action from August 12 if their demands are not met by August 11 and the culprits not punished. They retaliated their earlier demands that included cancellation of studentship and certificates of the accused students and their hand over to police.
The teachers council also held a rally, attended by over 100 teachers of different faculties. It was addressed by, among others, Prof. Dr. Md. Nurul Haq and Prof. Dr. Md. Monjurul Alam, President (in- charge) and secretary of the council.
A three-member probe body was formed to probe Monday night's incident. It submitted its report to BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain Friday night.
Soon after the incident, 37 BAU house tutors submitted their resignation letters to hall provosts, giving a three-day ultimatum.
