UGC probe team arrives RU
A four-member probe committee of University Grants Commission (UGC) reached Rajshahi University (RU) yesterday to investigate alleged irregularities and corruption in recruitment at RU.
UGC Member Prof Zihadul Karim, also founding chairman of RU Anthropology department, leads the probe body while other members are UGC Deputy Director Mizanur Rahman and officials Abdul Jalil and Ferdous Mannan.
The team will investigate all sorts of illegal recruitment at RU, which was done during the last 10 years, UGC sources said.
In 2004, the then BNP-Jamaat backed administration appointed 544 third and fourth-class employees against 255 vacant posts in gross violation of university rules.
