10 re-elected SCC councillors face cases
Among the elected councilors in Sylhet city Corporation, 10 are accused in criminal cases.
District Juba league secretary Azadur Rahman Azad of ward 20 is accused in five cases including the kitchen market case.
Detailed district Juba League chief Jagodigh Chandra Das is accused in three cases including an arms case.
Re-elected councilor Santanu Dutta Santu (AL) in ward 13, Saleh Cahmed Chowdhury (BNP) in ward 10, Sazzadur Rahman (AL) in ward 21, Haji Faruque Ahmed (BNP) in ward 23 and councilor Md. Shahjahan (AL) in ward 24 are on bai.
Cases of gold smuggling, looting etc are there against re-elected councilor Farhad Chowdhury Shamim (BNP) in ward 6. He was caught after one eleven. Incumbent commissioner Mokhlisur Rahman Kamran (AL) of ward 9 faces land grabbing case.
Cases are there also against councilor Selim Ahmed Rony (BNP) of ward 26. Commissioner Ashique Ahmed (AL) of ward 25 is on bail in a case for looting Tk 22 lakh from Pubali Bank.
