12 'corrupt' KCC staff asked to show cause
Acting Mayor Moniruzzaman Moni on Thursday issued notices upon 12 suspended officials and employees of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) to show cause within seven days why they should not be dismissed from their services.
The 12 staff, already accused in cases for extortion and fund misappropriation, are facing divisional proceedings.
They are -- chief engineer Liakat Ali Sharif, executive engineer Abdul Hannan, public relations officer Sarder Abu Taher, assistant accounts officer SMA Wadud, audit officer Sheikh Abdul Ahad, mayor's assistant private secretary Shafiqul Hasan, administrative officer Molla Maruf Rashid, chief assessor Sheikh hafizur Rahman, mayor's personal assistant Khan Isharot Ali, pump operator Golam Mostafa and ward secretary MA Baki.
Liakat Ali Sharif and Sarder Abu Taher are now in Khulna District Jail.
