ACC sues KCC chief engineer
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) office here has filed a case with Sadar Police Station accusing Khulna City Corporation (KCC) suspended chief engineer Liakat Ali Sharif and Municipal Services Project procurement officer SM Hafizur Rahman for allegedly misappropriating Tk 44 lakh 56,000 through forgery.
ACC assistant director Md Aminur Rahman filed the case on Thursday under Section 5(2) of Anti Corruption Act.
The government allocated the money for implementation of Municipal Services Project. The money was deposited with Krishi Bank. Later, the accused withdrew the money through forgery. The money was allegedly misappropriated through 38 cheques by misusing official power within a period from July 26, 2003 till November 19, 2006.
