Barisal AED staff abstain from work
Officials and staffs of Agriculture Extension Department (AED) in Barisal region have abstained from official works demanding immediate removal and punishment of AED additional director who beat up a staff on Saturday.
Nikhil Pandey, a sub assistant agriculture officer, who was waiting in a queue to enter the office room of Additional Director Molla Safiar on Saturday morning.
As Nikhil entered the room before another interview came out from inside, Safiar got angry and started kicking and boxing Nikhil.
Other office staff, who rescued Nikhil from the wrath of Safiar, immediately held a meeting and demanded punishment and removal of the boss within 48 hours.
Gazi Harunur Rashid and Md Fariduddin Khan, leaders of officers and staff associations of Barisal AED, said they will start tougher programmes if the demand is not met within the time.
They also handed over a memorandum in this connection to Barisal divisional commissioner on Saturday evening and sent it to AED director general yesterday morning.
Admitting the incident of assaulting the staff, Molla Safiar said, “I lost my temper as Pandey entered my room breaking the serial and engaged in altercation with me, when interview with another official was going on.”
