4 auto-rickshaw lifters arrested in Ctg
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP), in separate drives conducted here in last two days, arrested four alleged members of a gang of auto-rickshaw lifters.
The arrestees are Md Akhter Hossain, 28 of Noakhali, Md Jasim Uddin, 18, of Sholashahar, Chittagong, Md Majibur Rahman, 27, of Patuakhali and Shahjahan, 40, of Bhola.
On a tip-off, police raided a CNG refuelling station at Kadamtali at about 9:00pm on Monday and arrested Majibur with a stolen CNG-run auto-rickshaw.
On interrogation, Majibur confessed to his guilt. According to his confession, police raided the central railway building area in two days and arrested three others.
When contacted, CMP assistant commissioner Babul Akhter confirmed the incident terming the arrestees members of an inter-district gang of auto-rickshaw thieves. 'We are trying to arrest the gang leader named Mintu', the AC said.
