3 policemen suspended, sent to jail in Dinajpur

Three personnel of Parbatipur Police Station including two sub-inspectors (SIs) were suspended and sent to jail yesterday for allegedly firing gunshots on four onion traders of Rangpur on August 11 causing injuries to them, police said. SI Hyder Ali, SI Zobaer Rahman and constable Bimal Chandra Roy were sent to jail. Earlier, Dinajpur superintendent of police (SP) Md Mostafa Kamal suspended them on receipt of a report of a one-man probe team headed by Dinajpur Sadar Circle ASP Nawroz Hossain Talukder on Saturday. The SP formed the investigation team on Tuesday. The three were closed to Dinajpur Police Lines on Tuesday. They fired gunshots at four onion traders of Ramnathpur in Badarganj upazila in Rangpur for their refusal to pay them bribe resulting in their injuries. On information, Baderganj police rushed to the spot and sent them to Badarganj Upazila Helath Complex. Shafiul was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment as his condition worsened further.
