Job scheme for 3 lakh poor begins in 8 N dists today
The government's Tk 302.04crore employment programme for over three lakh jobless people will start in eight northern districts from today.
Under the programme with 23,349 projects, three lakh 2 thousand 40 active but jobless people in Rangpur, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts will get job for 100 days in two phases, said sources in district relief offices.
The first phase from September 15 to November 30 comprises 60 workdays while the second phase from March 1 to April 30 will cover 40 days.
Each beneficiary will get Tk 100 as daily wage for working seven hours a day, Nilphamari district relief officer Md Habibur Rahman said. If there is no work then they will get Tk 50 daily as unemployment allowance.
In Rangpur and Dinajpur districts 55,020 and 54,310 beneficiaries will get job under 4134 and 4548 projects with estimated budget of Tk 55.02 crore and Tk 54.31 crore, district relief office sources said.
In Gaibandha, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat and Panchagarh districts the number of beneficiaries are 49570, 42540, 35150, 26460, 22810 and 16180 respectively.
They will work in different rural infrastructure development programmes.
Both male and female under 18 50 years age group are eligible to work under the programme, Thakurgaon District Relief Officer Mujibul Ferdous said.
