ASI closed for taking bribe from day labourer
Assistant Sub Inspector of Police (ASI) Nasir Ahmed of Sharankhola police station in Bagerhat was closed to the police lines yesterday after being placed under suspension Sunday evening on charge of taking bribe of Tk 3,000 from a Sidr-hit day labourer.
The allegation against the ASI was proved in primary investigation by ASP Zakir Hossain of Marrelganj Circle of Bagerhat district police, sources said.
ASI Nasir faces an allegation that he had taken Tk 3,000 from day labourer Jahangir Khan on Saturday threatening that otherwise he would be implicated in a false case.
Jahangir was let off after he paid Tk 3,000 while being taken to police station handcuffed.
According to OC Kayem Khan of Sharankhola police station, Jahangir borrowed the money from one of his relatives to pay bribe to the police officer.
There is no case against Jahangir with any police station in Bagerhat district, the OC said.
