Drive against adulteration

A mobile court here yesterday realised Tk 1,30,000 as fine from owners of 13 sweetmeat shops for selling rotten sweets and producing sweets in an unhygienic manner. The sweetmeat shops are Joykali Mistanya Bhandar, Gopal Mistanya Bhandar, Porabari Sweets, Adarsha Sweets, Radha Sweets, Ma Sweets, Mozaddedia Sweets, Joy Durga Sweets, Hridoy Sweets, Rajlakkhi Mistanya Bhandar, Bhagyalakkhi Sweets, Sumon Mistanya Bhandar and Palash Mistanya Bhandar. Earlier, a team of Crime Prevention Company-3 of Rapid Action Battalion-12 led by Captain CAH Mahmud and additional superintendent of police (ASP) Abdul Jalil raided the shops at Panch Ani Bazar famous for 'Porabarir Chamcham', Rab said. The team threw away maunds of rotten sweets in roadside drains of the municipality.
