Language Movement veteran Nannu laid to rest

Language Movement veteran Mosharraf Hossain Nannu was laid to rest at Barisal Muslim Graveyard yesterday. He died of old age aliments at his residence in the city Saturday night. He left his wife, two sons, a daughter and a large number of admires and followers to mourn his death. He was born on March 30, 1927 in Barisal. Mosharraf Hossain Nannu, popularly known as Bhasha Soinik Nannu Bhai, is also founder of different progressive socio-cultural organisations in the district. Hearing the news of his death, hundreds of people from all walks of life rushed to his Bogura Road residence in the city to pay tributes to the memory of the beloved language hero. Thousands of people including BCC Mayor Shawkat Hossain Hiron and high government officials attended the Namaj-e-Janaja held in front of Aswani Kumar Hall at 12:10 pm. Political leaders and socio0cultural personalities in separate statements condoled the death of the Language Movement hero.
