Hasina-Khaleda meet to fail without parties' consensus

Ex-speaker of sixth Jatiya Sangsad Sheikh Razzak Ali said merely a meeting between former prime ministers Sheikh Hasina and Khaleda Zia would not bring any benefit for the nation if greater understanding among political parties cannot be achieved. “Our political leaders who failed to implement their commitments made to the people are yet to learn lessons even after nearly two years of one eleven changeover,” the ex-speaker said while talking to local newsmen at his Khulna residence on the day of Eid-ul-Fitre. “I have no intention to join BNP again. Deprived of their rights, many prominent leaders including former ministers and lawmakers from BNP joined Liberal Democratic Party with heavy heart. I cannot leave them even after getting lucrative offer for going back to BNP,” he said. Razzak Ali, however, did not rule out the possibility of LDP's joining an alliance led by BNP. Meanwhile, several top leaders of two factions of Khulna BNP have been in touch with Sheikh Razzak Ali for the last one month apparently in a bid to take him back 'with due respect'.
