Regular case filed against Swapan

Gournadi police station Monday night registered a regular criminal case against Zahiruddin Swapan, former BNP lawmaker for Barisal and party's central information and research secretary, and 12 other party men for demanding toll. Gaurnadi Juba Dal vice-president Masud Hassan Mithu Talukdar on Sunday (October 5) filed a case against Swapan with Senior Judicial Magistrate court in Barisal. Magistrate Debashish Nag ordered the officer-in-charge of Gaurnadi police station to register the case after investigation. Officer-in-charge of Gournadi police station Amiruzaman Amir told The Daily Star yesterday that according to court order, the allegation was registered as a regular case after primary investigation. The complainant alleged that the accused, led by Swapan, demanded money from him at Gaurnadi bus stand on October 3 and beat him as he refused. They also snatched money, wrist watch, ornaments from him, he claimed.
