Traders fined for selling adulterated food in Ctg
A mobile court here yesterday realised Tk 65,000 as fine from the owners of a sweetmeat shop, a departmental store and a hotel for selling adulterated food and preserving food in an unhygienic manner.
First of all, the court raided the sweetmeat shop, Purabi Sweets, situated in Alkaran area and fined its owner Md Selim Tk 50,000 for selling adulterated food.
Members of the court found several insects flying over the sweets preserved at the shop for sale. They also destroyed about 100 kilogram of sweets.
Then the court imposed Tk 10,000 fine on the owner of a posh departmental store, Meenabazar, at Sholoshahar for preserving flesh and liver with cooked food inside a refrigerator which posed a threat to customers' health.
Lastly, the court realised Tk 5,000 as fine from the owner of Hotel Azad for preserving and selling food in an unhygienic manner.
