Drug traders clash with anti-drug body: 10 hurt
Ten people were injured, two of them seriously, in a clash between a gang of drug traders and members of local drug resistance committee at Puran Bazar in Chandpur town Tuesday night, locals and police said.
Some houses were partly damaged due to indiscriminate brick-batting during the hour-long clash, witnesses said.
The clash occurred when Delu Halder, 28, a member of the drug resistance committee prevented Russel, an alleged drug trader, from selling drugs at Bau Bazar an identified spot of drugs in Puran Bazar.
Sharp weapons and bricks were used in the clash, witnesses said.
On information, Sadar Model Thana police rushed to the spot and arrested four people from the spot.
A contingent of police have been deployed in the area.
