Family of 2 slain BNP leaders still under death threat

Family members of slain Shailkupa upazila BNP organising secretary Idrish Ali and Jubo Dal leader Haidar Ali Hadu are passing amid hard days amid threat by the killers belonging to outlawed parties. After Idrish's murder by the cadres of Gono Mukti Fauz on January 21 this year, his wife Tahmina Begum along with her two sons Utshas, a student of class seven of Shailkupa High School, and three-year-old Uttal left their house and started living in Shailkupa town in fear of the criminals. The tragic memory still haunts Idrish's mother Rawshan Ara Begum, who still lives at her son's house. Idrish's elder brother Abu Bakar Jamal, also chairman of 5 No Kacherkol union, said he did not file any case with Shailkupa Police Station fearing reprisal from the terrorists who are still giving death threats to him and his sons. He alleged that the killers belonging to Shaheen Mukul Bahini in Shailkupa move in the area. On December 1 in 2006, cohorts of killed outlaw kingpin Abdur Rashid Malita alias Dada Tapan shot and bombed to death district Jubo Dal organising secretary Haider Ali Hadu in front of his residence at Adarsha para, said Hadu's younger brother, adding that they lodged a murder case with Jhenidah Sadar Police Station but no action has been taken so far. “I want to see trial of my husband's killers,” said Hadu's wife Maya Begum, now facing a difficult situation with her two daughters. When asked about security of the threatened family members and action to be taken against the killers, Superintend of Police Jahangir Hossain Matabber said, “No family member of the victim family complained to me. I will look into the matter and immediately take necessary action in this regard.”
