<i>'Punish killers of FF Sajjad'</i>
Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad of Rajshahi district unit at a meeting on Sangsad office premises yesterday demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the killers of freedom fighter Sajjad Hossain in Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.
On October 5, identified cadres of local Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir beat up Sajjad to death openly as he distributed Jakat and Fitra money among the poor people instead of donating it to an institution run by Jamaat-Shibir men.
Jammat-Shibir men are engaged in false propaganda to save the killers, the freedom fighters said.
Expressing concern over the police administration's inaction about the heinous murder, the freedom fighter warned to launch a tougher movement with general people if Sajjad's killers are not punished.
Bir Protik Nur Hamim Rezvi was present as the chief guest at the protest meeting presided over by Muktijoddha Sangsad district commander Nazrul Islam Khoka.
Former district commander Saidur Rahman was present as the special guest while freedom fighter Mahtab Uddin, Monjur Hossain, Lutfar Rahman, Anwarul Islam, Masum Akter, Abdur Rahman, Sheikh Azizul Haque, Abdul Baki, Abdul Matin, Mofizur Rahman, Abul Basher, spoke among others.
Muktijoddha Pathagar, Ekatturer Ghatak-Dalal Nirmul Committee and Joy Bangla Sangskritik Jote of Rajshahi in separate statements yesterday demanded arrest and punishment of the killers of freedom fighter Sajjad Hossain.
They also demanded punishment of Jamaat-backed so-called 'Jatiya Muktijoddha Parishad' leaders for assaulting freedom fighter Sheikh Mohammad Ali Aman in the capital and their derogatory comments about the principles of Liberation War.
They also demanded trial of war criminals immediately to establish rule of law in the country and materialise the dreams of martyrs.
