Abu Sayed Chand

Leaders of BNP and its front organizations in Bagha and Charghat upazilas at a press conference in Charghat yesterday demanded nomination of Abu Sayed Chand as party candidate in Rajshahi-5 (Bagha-Charghat) constituency in the upcoming parliamentary election. Abu Sayed Chand is Charghat BNP president and got gold medal as the best Union Parishad chairman. He was chairman of Shalua UP in Charghat upazila. Speakers at the press conference said Chand played vital roles in development of his area and during bad days of the party during the movement against Ershad's rule. They also urged BNP high command to nominate Chad as party candidate in Rajshahi-5. They also said BNP and its fronts in the area will resist any other candidate. They alleged that earlier, major political parties nominated 'outsiders' to contest in the constituency ignoring local leaders. The 'outsiders' ignored their interests, they alleged. Charghat BNP general secretary Zakirul Islam Bokul read out a written statement at the press conference. Charghat BNP vice president advocate Abdus Slam, Jubo Dal president Nurul Amin, secretary Kamruzzman Bakul, Charghat JCD president Ziaur Rahman, BNP leader Abu Millat and other BNP leaders were also present at the press conference.
