Naming 2 Thakurgaon Roads After Razakars
FFs give 12 hours for cancellation
Protesting Thakurgaon Municipality authority's decision to name two important roads in the town after two Razakars, freedoms fighters yesterday gave a 12-hour ultimatum to withdraw the decision.
General Secretary of Thakurgaon district Muktijoddha Sangsad, Md Shamsul Alam submitted a memorandum to Thakurgaon Deputy Commissioner Miah Abdullah Al Manum to take steps against the 'wicked act'.
Thakurgaon municipality named two roads after Razakars Oman Ali and Nurul Haque, who were members of Peace Committee during the Liberation War and influential leaders of erstwhile Muslim League, said the memo signed by nine freedom fighters of the districts.
Thakurgaon Municipality authorities hung signboards naming two roads, one from Hospital to Thakurgaon Municipality office and the other from Tantipara to Kalibari, after the Razakars in the dark of night on Wednesday, the freedom fighters said.
Thakurgaon Muktijoddha Sangsad leader Shamsul Alam said they will launch greater movement if their demand is not met.
Thakurgaon Municipality Mayor Sayed Kamal Chowdhury could not be contacted as his cell phone remained off.
