CID team from Dhaka in Khulna for probe
A five-member CID team came to Khulna from Dhaka on Sunday to monitor investigation of Awami League (AL) leader Khan Ibne Zaman murder case, filed with Khalishpur police station on October 14 naming none as accused.
Headed by CID ASP of police headquarters Tahura Begum, the team visited the house of the slain AL leader at Khalishpur and collected some evidences from there.
They also interrogated Zaman's three domestic helps--Makbul, Farque and Tufani--shown arrested in the case and taken on five-day remand for interrogation.
Khulna Awami League accused BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami of conspiracy to kill its prominent leader Khan Ibne Zaman who was a contender for nomination from Khulna-3 (Khalishpur-Daulatpur) constituency in next parliamentary election.
The accusation was made by Khulna City AL secretary Mizanur Rahman Mizan in a press conference held at Khulna Press Club on Saturday.
Mizan said murder of Khan Ibne Zaman was part of a blueprint by BNP-Jamaat to remove all prominent leaders of Awami League across the country ahead of parliamentary elections.
The AL leader expressed displeasure that police could not make any headway into investigation six days after the murder.
“We put a big question mark on the decision to shift the case to detective branch of KMP from Khalishpur police station as the history of KMP is a history of total failure in probing murders of political leaders and journalists”, Mizan said.
He said Khulna city AL publicity secretary Asraful Islam and labour secretary Abul Kashem also received death threats. This has created panic among local AL leaders.
Mizan alleged that there are agents of BNP-Jamaat in the present caretaker government, who are working against pro-liberation forces.
