1 killed, 40 hurt in B'baria clashes
A villager was killed and 40 others were injured in two separate clashes at Bhulak village of Nasirnagar upazila and Joydarkandi village of Sarail upazila yesterday and Monday night.
The first clash occurred at Bhulak village of Bhurisyar union in Nasirnagar upazila Monday night where one person was killed and 10 others were injured over possession of a water body.
The dead was identified as Billal Mia, 30, of the village.
There had been a long-standing conflict between two groups of people, one led by Jaj Mia and the other by Abul Hossain, eyewitness and hospital sources said. Following an altercation, both the groups locked in a clash causing injuries to 11 people.
Of them, Billal Mia, who sustained serious injuries succumbed to his injuries on way to a hospital. Ten others were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital and local clinics. Autopsy of the dead was done at Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
In the second clash which occurred over teasing a girl at Joydarkandi village of Sarail upazila, at least 30 persons were injured. They were given first aid at Sarail Upazila Health Complex and local clinics. Later, three of them were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital.
