UCEP opens school for underprivileged children

Swiss Ambassador in Bangladesh Dr Dora Rapold inaugurated a technical school for underprivileged children named UCEP-Hafiz Mazumdar Sylhet Technical School at Bateshwar opposite to Jalalabad Cantonment on Sunday, says a press release of UCEP-Bangladesh. The Ambassador hoped that underprivileged children would get employment opportunities on completion of their education and skill development training at the school. Former ministers, Ambassador of Norway Ingebjorg Stofring, diplomats, high civil and military officials, members of UCEP Board of Governors and UCEP Association, journalists of national dailies and electronic media and local elite were present on the occasion. Earlier, the school complex was built at a cost of about Tk 4.22 crore on 0.90 acres of land. Operation of the school started in July this year. The initial capacity of the school is 130 students in 2 shifts a day in 4 trades of 12 months' duration. Twelve trainers are imparting training to students on various trades. The trades are Welding and Fabrication, Auto Mechanics, Trailoring and Industrial Sewing Operation and Industrial Electrical and Electronic Control.
