<i>'Fugitive' for anti-drug move!</i>
Twelve young men of Bheramara upazila in the district are now on the run to avoid arrest following filing of a false robbery case by a drug trader.
“We are facing the trouble as we took an initiative for betterment of the society,” on of them told this correspondent.
To prevent widespread drug abuse by addicted young people including school and college going students, the 12 young men of Bheramara upazila in the district started an awareness campaign in the upazila and the initiative got good response among different sections of people in the upazila.
Angered by the 'move against' their illegal trade, drug traders of the area started looking for a way to 'punish' the young group.
Drug trader Shahin arranged 'ransacking' some instrument at his motor repairing workshop in the upazila town on Friday night and later filed a robbery case with Bheramara police against the 12 young men.
The young men, mostly college students, are now on the run fearing arrest and harassment by police.
Talking to journalists, a few of them alleged that police is not taking any action to prevent the drug traders.
When contacted, a duty officer of Bheramara Police Station said, “We have taken the case. But action will be taken only after investigation.”
